With the dust of the lotus feet of the revered Guru, I cleanse the mirror of my mind
बरनऊं रघुबर बिमल जसु जो दायकु फल चारि
I narrate the pure glory of Raghuvar, which bestows the four fruits of life
बुद्धिहीन तनु जानिके सुमिरौं पवन कुमार
Knowing my body to be devoid of wisdom, I remember the son of the wind
बल बुद्धि बिद्या देहु मोहिं हरहु कलेस बिकार
Grant me strength, wisdom, and knowledge, and remove my sorrows and flaws

Great hero, mighty and strong as lightning
कुमति निवार सुमति के संगी
Remover of evil thoughts, companion of good sense
कंचन बरन बिराज सुबेसा
Golden-hued, splendidly dressed
कानन कुंडल कुंचित केसा
Wearing earrings and curly hair
हाथ बज्र औ ध्वजा बिराजै
Holding a thunderbolt and flag in your hands
कांधे मूंज जनेऊ साजै
A sacred thread of munja grass adorns your shoulder
संकर सुवन केसरीनंदन
Son of Shankara, delight of Kesari
तेज प्रताप महा जग बन्दन
Your brilliance and glory are revered by the world
विद्यावान गुनी अति चातुर
Wise, virtuous, and extremely clever
राम काज करिबे को आतुर
Eager to perform the work of Rama
प्रभु चरित्र सुनिबे को रसिया
Delights in listening to the deeds of the Lord
राम लखन सीता मन बसिया
Rama, Lakshman, and Sita dwell in your heart
सूक्ष्म रूप धरि सियहिं दिखावा
Assuming a tiny form, you appeared to Sita
बिकट रूप धरि लंक जरावा
Assuming a fierce form, you burned Lanka
भीम रूप धरि असुर संहारे
Assuming a terrifying form, you destroyed demons
रामचंद्र के काज संवारे
You accomplished the tasks of Lord Ramachandra
लाय सजीवन लखन जियाये
You brought the life-restoring herb and revived Lakshman
श्रीरघुबीर हरषि उर लाये
Shri Raghubir joyfully embraced you
रघुपति कीन्ही बहुत बड़ाई
Raghupati greatly praised you
तुम मम प्रिय भरतहि सम भाई
"You are as dear to me as my brother Bharat"
सहस बदन तुम्हरो जस गावैं
A thousand mouths sing your glory
अस कहि श्रीपति कंठ लगावैं
So said the Lord, embracing you
सनकादिक ब्रह्मादि मुनीसा
Sanaka and other sages, Brahma, and great saints
नारद सारद सहित अहीसा
Narad, Saraswati, and the serpent king
जम कुबेर दिगपाल जहां ते
Yama, Kubera, and the guardians of the directions
कबि कोबिद कहि सके कहां ते
Poets and scholars cannot describe your glory
तुम उपकार सुग्रीवहिं कीन्हा
You rendered great service to Sugriva
राम मिलाय राज पद दीन्हा
Introducing him to Rama and granting him the kingdom
तुम्हरो मंत्र बिभीषन माना
Vibhishan followed your advice
लंकेस्वर भए सब जग जाना
He became king of Lanka, known to all the world
जुग सहस्र जोजन पर भानू
The sun, thousands of yojanas away
लील्यो ताहि मधुर फल जानू
You swallowed, thinking it a sweet fruit
प्रभु मुद्रिका मेलि मुख माहीं
Carrying the Lord's ring in your mouth
जलधि लांघि गये अचरज नाहीं
You leapt across the ocean, a wondrous feat
दुर्गम काज जगत के जेते
All the difficult tasks in the world
सुगम अनुग्रह तुम्हरे तेते
Become easy through your grace
राम दुआरे तुम रखवारे
You are the guardian at Rama's door
होत न आज्ञा बिनु पैसारे
No one can enter without your permission
सब सुख लहै तुम्हारी सरना
All happiness is found in your refuge
तुम रक्षक काहू को डर ना
With you as protector, there is no fear
आपन तेज सम्हारो आपै
You alone control your own power
तीनों लोक हांक तें कांपै
All three worlds tremble at your call
भूत पिसाच निकट नहिं आवै
Ghosts and evil spirits do not come near
महाबीर जब नाम सुनावै
When the mighty Hanuman's name is heard
नासै रोग हरै सब पीरा
Diseases are destroyed, all pain is removed
जपत निरंतर हनुमत बीरा
By constant repetition of brave Hanuman's name
संकट तें हनुमान छुड़ावै
Hanuman frees from all troubles
मन क्रम बचन ध्यान जो लावै
Those who meditate on him in mind, deed, and word
सब पर राम तपस्वी राजा
Rama is the ascetic king over all
You accomplish all his tasks
और मनोरथ जो कोई लावै
And whoever brings any wish to you
सोइ अमित जीवन फल पावै
Receives abundant fruits in life
चारों जुग परताप तुम्हारा
Your glory shines through all four ages
है परसिद्ध जगत उजियारा
Your fame illuminates the world
साधु संत के तुम रखवारे
You are the protector of saints and sages
असुर निकंदन राम दुलारे
Destroyer of demons, beloved of Rama
अष्ट सिद्धि नौ निधि के दाता
Giver of the eight siddhis and nine treasures
अस बर दीन जानकी माता
Such a boon was given by Mother Janaki
राम रसायन तुम्हरे पासा
You possess the elixir of devotion to Rama
सदा रहो रघुपति के दासा
May you always remain the servant of Raghupati
तुम्हरे भजन राम को पावै
Through your devotion, one attains Rama
जनम-जनम के दुख बिसरावै
And forgets the sorrows of countless births
अन्तकाल रघुबर पुर जाई
At the end of life, one goes to the city of Raghuvar
जहां जन्म हरि भक्त कहाई
Where one is known as a devotee of Hari
और देवता चित्त न धरई
No other deity resides in the mind
हनुमत सेइ सर्ब सुख करई
Serving Hanuman brings all happiness
संकट कटै मिटै सब पीरा
Troubles are removed, all pain is destroyed
जो सुमिरै हनुमत बलबीरा
For those who remember the mighty Hanuman
जै जै जै हनुमान गोसाईं
Victory, victory, victory to Lord Hanuman
कृपा करहु गुरुदेव की नाईं
Grant your grace as a true Guru would
जो सत बार पाठ कर कोई
Whoever recites this a hundred times
छूटहि बंदि महा सुख होई
Will be freed from bondage and find great happiness
जो यह पढ़ै हनुमान चालीसा
Whoever reads this Hanuman Chalisa
होय सिद्धि साखी गौरीसा
Will attain success, as witnessed by Lord Shiva
